Kaukainen
The decision to examine this area was based on previous examinations of boulders and moraine. Kaukainen is situated only 2 kilometres east of the main mineralization in Laiva. So far, the initial PBH-drilling in 2009 has included drilling 173 holes. The gold content on the map is presented in ppb. 3420 ppb correspond to 3.4 grams of gold/ton and 100 ppb correspond to 0.1 grams of gold/ton.
The mineralized area in Kaukainen covers 6.4 hectares. The area is open and an extension of the drilling with a higher density between the holes is planned.

The exploration drilling in Musuneva and Kaukainen is performed using Nordic Mines’ proprietary drilling rigs headed by company staff. The drilling has a diameter of 76 millimetres in moraine and 68 millimetres in rock. The till sampling is based on 1-meter sections, and rock samples are based on 1-2 metres drilling in rock. The size of the samples is 1 kilo, both in moraine and rock. The tests are prepared and analysed in independent laboratories, Pioneer Laboratories or ALS Chemex.
The preparation and analyses at Pioneer: Multi-element ICP analysis, 0,500 grams of the sample is added to 3 millilitres aqua regia. Diluted with 10 millilitres of water. The gold analysis is performed on a 20-gram sample added to aqua regia, MIBK extracted and analysed with atomic absorption.
Preparation and analysis at ALS Chemex: Grinding down to 85% <75 µm, ICP-analysis according to Code ME-ICP61, Gold analysis; 50 grams FA ICP-AES-finish.
